Nearly 100 Members Join the IAB Call With FTC the to Discuss the FTC Native Advertising Disclosure Workshop
On October 24, the IAB Native Advertising Task Force and the IAB Public Policy Council members were invited to participate in a call with the FTC regarding the Native Advertising Disclosure Workshop scheduled for December 4, 2013 in Washington, DC. Following a brief overview of the IAB Task Force Prospectus direction, Laura Sullivan from the FTC provided perspective on the workshop, including background and objectives/goals, logistics and information on how IAB members can participate. A Q&A followed. Nearly 100 were on the line. We are honored that the FTC agreed to speak with IAB members and are pleased that so many took advantage of the opportunity to hear directly from the FTC. Led by Mike Zaneis, the IAB General Counsel, we are continuing the dialogue with the FTC to ensure that the thinking of the IAB Native Advertising Task Force is heard. The IAB Native Advertising Prospectus, with IAB Recommended Disclosure Best Practices will be released on December 4. IAB has been invited to participate in the workshop and intends to do so. IAB HTML5 Working Group Makes Strides
On the heels of the July release of HTML5 for Digital Advertising 1.0 is the need to move the HTML5 working group into its next phase. The design for this phase is to deliver education and on existing work, while also discovering and prioritizing topics for further development. This group intends to address HTML5 Digital Advertising issues across screens and platforms, thus requests participation from publishers, creative technologists, ad serving or other ad technologies including mobile specific companies.
