The inaugural IAB Case Study Road Show crossed the country with three full-house events in March, hitting San Francisco, Dallas and Chicago. IAB Hosts Interactive Advertising’s First-Ever Ad Verification Summit

Seeking to lend order and clarity to an increasingly important yet confusing component of the interactive advertising ecosystem, the IAB convened the interactive industry’s first interdisciplinary forum on ad verification companies and technologies on March 19. “Ad Verification Day: An Introduction and Discussion of Methodologies,” held in New York, welcomed an invited roster of interactive industry executives representing marketers, agencies, publishers, ad networks and technology companies. The IAB, which represents the interests of the sellers of the interactive advertising industry, has been a driving force in creating transparency in and removing friction from all stages of the interactive advertising buying process. The IAB welcomed 650 leaders of the interactive marketing and advertising ecosystem to the 2010 Annual Leadership Meeting, Ecosystem 2.0: Revenue the Next Wave, in Carlsbad, CA, in late February. At the Annual Leadership Meeting, the IAB recognized members for sales and service excellence, announced the final release of the “Standard Terms and Conditions Version 3.0,” presented its 2009 Annual Report and introduced several new initiatives.

The winners of the IAB 2009 Sales and Service Excellence Awards were recognized at the Annual Leadership Meeting. The Sales Awards honor IAB members for outstanding performance and leadership in interactive advertising sales. IAB and 4A’s Release Finalized “Standard Terms and Conditions Version 3.0” for the Interactive Industry
The IAB and the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) announced on February 22 that the “4A’s/IAB Standard Terms and Conditions Version 3.0” (Ts&Cs) have been finalized and are ready for adoption throughout the interactive industry. This first update to the voluntary standard advertising contract since 2002 helps the industry realize important efficiency improvements and will become the standard by which media companies and agencies or advertisers expedite the most common types of interactive media buys. IAB Recaps 2009 in Annual Report
In 2009 the IAB made strategic financial decisions that enabled the organization to weather increasingly stormy economic headwinds even as we maintained the value of membership and the quality of our services and events portfolio. Though the year was not without its challenges, we are pleased to report that IAB emerged from a most challenging economic environment in a strong financial position to deliver on our mission. At the end of 2009, IAB not only ran a small surplus but we were also able to make a few strategic investments that put us on a good footing as 2010 began. Read more »

In a move that standardizes the information networks and exchanges provide to advertisers, enhances buyer control over placement and context and builds brand safety, the IAB released “Networks & Exchanges Quality Assurance Guidelines” for public comment. These guidelines provide full understanding of the sources and types of inventory offered, and the context and content surrounding advertising.Read more »

IAB Unveils “Social Media Buyer’s Guide,” A How-To Primer for Marketers and Agencies
The IAB released the industry’s first-ever “Social Media Buyer’s Guide,” a resource that guides marketers and agencies through the social media advertising buying process and, specifically:

  • Details the steps involved in planning a social media campaign to meet both strategic and tactical marketing objectives
  • Defines the different social media platforms that are in the market
  • Provides case studies to illustrate successfully executed real-world campaigns
  • Summarizes the pricing models available to purchase social media and the metrics used to evaluate success.
