IAB to Lead Second Annual Digital Content Newfronts:
April 29 – May 3, 2013

The founding partners of the Digital Content NewFronts–AOL, Digitas, Hulu, Microsoft Advertising, Yahoo! and YouTube—in partnership with the IAB, announced that the second Annual Digital Content NewFronts will be held April 29 through May 3 in New York City and that the IAB has been engaged to lead the event and helm the selection process for presenters. This news comes on the heels of the release of the half-year IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report, which pointed to interactive video as one of the fastest growing segments, garnering more than $1 billion in ad revenue in the first two quarters of 2012, an 18 percent increase year-over-year.

The Digital Content NewFronts was launched last spring to create a marketplace to showcase and sell high-value original video content and adjacent advertising opportunities in digital media. The Digital Content NewFronts will be organized like the upfront marketplaces familiar for years in the television industry.

‘Mobile Shoppers’ Study Shows Growing Adoption Is Shifting Shopping Landscape
As mobile increasingly becomes a keystone in the holiday campaigns of brand marketers, the IAB and its Mobile Marketing Center of Excellence, in partnership with Prosper Mobile Insights, released its second annual “Mobile Shoppers” study. The study reveals the exclusive IAB list of the most mobile shopping savvy cities in the U.S., with Houston claiming the top spot for the second year in a row, followed by Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. In addition, the report looks at how and where consumers access mobile devices, and how retail apps and digital coupons strongly influence what consumers buy and where they buy. Read more»

Data Management Platforms Poised to Become Scalable Solution to ‘Big Data’ Challenges, According to IAB & Winterberry Group
As the promise of “Big Data” plays an increasingly significant role in the digital marketing landscape, the IAB and Winterberry Group released “The Data Management Platform: Foundation for Right-Time Consumer Engagement,” a white paper revealing that DMPs could potentially serve as a principal technology solution for multichannel data aggregation, integration, management and deployment. The survey of over 150 executive-level thought leaders finds widespread interest in this emerging technology; More than three quarters of panelists expect DMPs to play major role in future advertising, marketing and customer engagement efforts. The IAB Global Summit: Standing Together to Lead the Digital Marketing Industry Worldwide

Internet Ad Revenues Rise to Historic $17 Billion in
First Half 2012
This all-time high in Internet advertising revenue is 14 percent above the record $14.9 billion recorded in the first six months of 2011, reported to the IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report prepared by PwC US. Second-quarter Internet ad revenues for this year hit $8.7 billion, up from $7.7 billion in the same period last year. Mobile generated significant growth—almost doubling year-over-year—up 95 percent to $1.2 billion in half-year 2012. Read more»
