WSJ Live, The Wall Street Journal’s video platform, leverages recent breakthroughs in video technology to harness the collective reporting power of our 2,000 highly-skilled journalists across the globe. ‘Live when you need it, in-depth when you want it, anywhere and everywhere you are,’ WSJ Live is now available on 30 different platforms, generates more than 4 hours of live video per day, and has seen a 400% increase in traffic since its launch in September 2011.
For the last two years, the Journal has been training its journalists to both appear on camera and shoot video in order to give WSJ Live viewers access to their unique expertise, and to let them vicariously experience the people they interview and the places they see every day. In addition, the prevailing power of The Wall Street Journal brand allows us to regularly utilize business leaders, industry experts and celebrities in our programming—from Bill Gates to Lady Gaga.
WSJ Live has also created WorldStream, the first truly mobile social video platform, a unique blog that allows our reporters to file short bursts of video using their smartphones. The platform showcases the Journal’s breadth of coverage worldwide and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovative, multi-platform storytelling.
