WIRELESS ADVERTISING ASSOCIATION (WAA) SCHEDULES EUROPEAN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETINGS
New York, NY - October 30, 2000 -The Wireless Advertising Association (WAA) has scheduled two organizational meetings in Europe in its overall effort to expand the global presence of the WAA and create guidelines and standards for the wireless advertising industry globally. The meetings will be held in London on November 14, at the Radisson Edwardian Grafton Hotel, and in Amsterdam on November 16, at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel.
"We recognize the global nature of the wireless advertising industry and several major European companies been involved in the WAA since it was initiated six months ago," said WAA Chairman and Vice President of AdForce EveryWhere Tim DePriest. "Now that the WAA organizational structure is in place we will be conferring with our colleagues in Europe to set up parallel working committees, to achieve a uniformity of guidelines and standards world wide. We are keenly aware that different areas of the world will have concerns unique to their countries regarding wireless advertising, and that guidelines will differ somewhat from market to market. Conducting these meetings in London and Amsterdam is the first step to greatly expanding the number of European companies involved in the WAA, and getting closer to the issues they face on a day-to-day basis."
The WAA is currently in the midst of developing proposed guidelines for ad measurement, consumer issues and privacy, creative standards and ad models, and has taken a strong stance against wireless spam. The European organizational meetings will create parallel working committees to those in the US, with a conscious recognition of the particular local area practices and regulations. Within the next six months, the WAA will schedule similar organizational meetings in Asia and Latin America.
Companies interested in learning more about the WAA including its vision, goals and objectives, and membership policy, or to register to attend the European Meetings can visit its web site at www.WirelessAdAssociation.org.
